"Tibetans are not anti-Chinese," the Dalai Lama said, answering a series of questions from the members of UK's Foreign Affairs Committee (FAC) on Thursday, according to the official website of the Tibetan government in-exile.
To drive home his point, the noble laureate referred how the Tibetans across the world have been collecting donations and praying for the victims of the recent earthquake that rocked China.
The spiritual leader said he fully supported Chinese President Hu Jintao's call for a "harmonious society", but noted that this can only be brought about by having trust and mutual respect for one another.
Expressing happiness over the show of concern for Tibetans by the international community in the wake of recent anti-China demonstrations, the Dalai Lama said one practical way is to educate the Chinese people to help remove their misconceptions on the Tibet issue.
The Tibetan temporal head also spoke about importance of democracy and how it can help resolve many of the issues troubling China, including Tibet.
