The winner of Eurovision 2008 song festival with the majority of votes became Dima Belan from Russia. Dima's Eurovision winning was much deserved.
Ukraine came number two. The third place was Greece. Sirusho of Armenia bacame number four.
There were many good performances. However, it seems that Eurovision has become a way to show or give favors to neighboring countires or other countries where you have good friends or big diaspora.
For example. Turkey gives the top votes for Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan gives the top votes to Turkey. Romania gives the top Eurovision votes to Moldova and vise versa.
Russia's Dima Belan had a superb performance and truly deserved to be the number one. Ice skater champion Plushenko was skating on a small place around Belan and a Hungarian violinist was accompanying with Stradivarius Violin.
I felt truly sorry for Georgia. Diana Gurtskaya representing Georgia had a very beautiful song and a very high quality performance. On the top of that she had a great message "Peace Will Come." Unfortunately Gerogia seems not to have that many friends to get enough votes. Diana did not come in the top 5, but it was considered that she would be one of the possible winners of the Eurovision 2008.
Serbia had put together a great show for which the country deserves much credit.
Next year the Eurovision 2009 will be hosted in Moscow according to the rules of the contest. However, it needs to be advocated to make changes in voting rules so the best of the best comes on the top (Dima Belan in my opinion was the best and deserved it), but not the country that has the most friends voting for it.

#1 unfair
Dima was not the best...he shouldn't even be in the top 5.he went so good cuz he's from russia and russia has many neighboors to vote for her...Greece and Armenia were much better
#2 Not true, although his voice
Not true, although his voice isn't perfect, he put up a great show! Teaming up with a violinist and an ice skater sealed the deal!
#3 "Romania gives the top
"Romania gives the top Eurovision votes to Moldova and vise versa." They gave Romania top votes because 75% of Moldovas population IS romanian. Is like California votion for the rest of the US...
#4 Eurovision
I totally disagree with the statement that Moldavians gave Romania their top votes because 75% of Moldova's population is romanian. California is a constituent part of US, while Moldova is,althow small, but an independent country. It has two official languages: russian and moldavian, this last shares the same roots with the romanian one. The difference between them is almost unperceptible. Moldova's culture and traditions are much more similar to Russia's ones because, during many years, Moldova was one of the other republics that constituted Soviet Union. If we speak about reasons for voting Romania we could suppose that there are some political interests. Romania recently became a part of European Union, while Moldova felt abandoned, that's why they remebered their historical roots which could be found in previous centuries. Take for example a Mexican person and tell him / her that he/ she is a spanish one because they are descendents form spanish people who settled in America when it was discovered during the 17th century. He / she will tell you that your attitude verges on the discrimination, that you are not able to accept the existence of other different nationalities. In my opinion, the remark mentioned above would not be completely objective since people are unaware of the historical aspects and therefore cannot judge the real state of things.
#5 not true!
well...I live in Romania and I can tell you for sure that there are very few romanians in Moldova. These 2 countries are next to each other, and about 20%of Romania's population is moldovian.
#6 charlotte perrelli
What about Charlotte Perrelli from Sweden? Europe punished her for winning Eurovision before in 1999 and coming back again this year (shame on you Europe for teh way you voe)... people are so jealous and refused to vote for her even though her song was one of the best...
at least Dima Bilan won and truly deserves it, he sings very well and had a good song... unless the last two previous years where terrible stupid songs won....
#7 Eurovision
Being American and getting the chance to watch Eurovision from here in UK, I think Russia deserves 2 be the first. But can't understand why Ukraine 2nd and Greece 3rd, the best performances came from Russia, Armenia (I'm in love with this 16 YO girl's voice), Serbia, Ukraine and Greece did nothing special but repeated the nowadays usual pop beats, and won because they were not afraid to show a little bit of too much of what they have.... But Armenia at least needed 2 the the 3rd.
#8 I agree
Russia deserved first but Ukraine and Greece must have been after the top 10. Sweden and Iceland must have been in top 5 as well as Armenia and Latvia. The contest is not fair as the slavic countries always do well when they send terrible songs - they must be last.
#9 Dima
Dima was the best this year.Text of the song is great and the music is not bad.According to me he should win even there were not Pluschenko and Marton, but I liked them too.I don't agree that Serbian song was bad last year.Marija has won because the song was good and she has a good voice too.She was dressed normaly(just like Jelena this year),not like some other singers, they were almost naked on the scene and shaking themselves. This is a song contest not shaking contest.I like good performance, but than you should do something like russian did and not be vulgar. It's not true that slavic countries send terrible songs.I don't say that all of them are perfect but there are good songs. When you calculate the votes, only from western countries for the last year when Serbia won,Marija would be the first anyway.I agree there are a lot of jealousy, but jealousy doesn't help.If you want to win be creative and make a good song, then everybody will vote for you.Maybe you won't get twelve points from all countries but it will be enough for winning.
