The opening performance on May 28 at 7:30 p.m. will feature the dancers on whom the roles were created in 2004, with Sonia Rodriguez as Cinderella, Guillaume Côté as Her Prince Charming, Victoria Bertram, Jennifer Fournier and Rebekah Rimsay as Her Stepmother and Her Stepsisters and Lorna Geddes as the Fairy Godmother.
Debuting in the role of Cinderella is Principal Dancer Xiao Nan Yu and in the role of Her Prince Charming are Principal Dancers Nehemiah Kish and Zdenek Konvalina. Second Soloists Julie Hay and Je-an Salas make their debuts in the roles of Her Stepsisters.
Cinderella will be followed by a mixed programme from June 13 – June 22, 2008 featuring the second detail & Five Brahms Waltzes in the Manner of Isadora Duncan & Etudes & Alberta Ballet's The Fiddle and The Drum. Principal Dancer Jennifer Fournier will dance her final performances in Five Brahms Waltzes in the Manner of Isadora Duncan before retiring from The National Ballet of Canada. -- www.national.ballet.ca
