Is It Any Wonder UK Is Getting Fat?

Vending machines directly contribute to obesity and particularly developing childhood obesity. However, apparently Harrow Council, as a means of raising extra revenue, are planning to place vending machines in their civic offices, libraries and even local blocks of flats.

This council are so strapped for cash that they're planning on raking in an extra £25,000 this year as a result of the initiative, by peddling more fat-encouraging snacks and sweets to all and sundry!

I know there's freedom of choice and all that, but surely selling MORE poor quality snacks will only encourage greater obesity, further health problems and an even greater burden on the local government's NHS resources?

On the one hand this government talks about tackling obesity and educating people of the risks, and on the other they allow local councils to go ahead and exaserbate the problem!

Sadly, at the end of the day, people are more interested in money and profit instead of health and wellbeing.

While this remains the case, we have an uphill struggle on our hands to fight obesity!
