Gas Prices Too High For You? Things You Can Do

Gas has become a rising issue these days. Each week that you fill up at the tank, you may be astonished to see that the gas prices increase weekly, if not daily. It is safe to say that you are not alone in this seemingly growing economic dilemma.

Many people are still buying big trucks, better known as "gas guzzlers". But, it's good to know that the economical sales of frugal car buyers are lured to buying hybrid automobiles. If you are someone who thinks highly of preserving this earth and are into living a more "Green" life in hopes to eventually begin to see gas prices rise, but are not in the position to buy a hybrid, I have a few ideas on how you can save money in gas with your existing automobile. These tips should be incorporated daily into your maintenance routine.

1. Check your tire pressure. Each time you get in your car, take a quick look around at your tires. You are looking for wear, tears, or low air.

2. Check for leaks. Whenever you back out of a parking spot, take a peak at the space you parked to see if your car leaked fluid. Some tips to notice is the color of the leak. If it's black, it's an oil leak, coolant is bright greenish, power steering fluid and break fluids are clear, which a brown tinge, and transmission fluid is pink.

3. Check for under your hood. It is here that you are looking for cracked or split spark plug wires, cracked radiator hoses, or loose clamps and corrosion of the battery.

There are other things you should check such as your tires and breaks. Remember, your priority is to save gas in any way you can. These are simply a few basic checks you can go through, daily to ensure that your car is running as smoothly as possible, hense using less gas.

Luckily, there are alternative methods to help you double your fuel economy if buying a hybrid is not in your budget. By saving gas prevent smog and use less energy. Who wouldn't want that?
