Blackpool's Grand Theatre is looking to the future with an innovative new brochure developed specifically to encourage young people to experience the world of arts and entertainment.

In another first for the Grand, the forward-thinking theatre, in association with Blackpool Council's Children and Young People Department, is distributing 100,000 copies of the special brochure to 41 Blackpool schools to encourage young people to enjoy the world of the arts and to show the Grand's continued commitment to future young supporters from Blackpool and its surrounding areas.

Grand Theatre General Manager, Neil Thomson, said: "This specially tailored pamphlet offers a balanced programme of both fun and educational productions - some of the shows are expressly aimed at school key stage curriculums, others for enjoying leisure time with friends and family. The design and distribution of the new schools pamphlet follows on from the extremely successful launch of the Matcham Monkey Club at the Grand and is just another step in making the theatre more accessible to audiences of all ages. It's another first for the Grand and for Blackpool."

The Wales Theatre Company's fresh and modern interpretation of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet and the emotive and unforgettable war drama All Quiet on the Western Front have been engaged with education in mind; while the dazzling musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Any Dream Will Do's Craig Chalmers, the delightful Fifi and the Flowertots, Disney's magical Beauty and the Beast and of course the fabulous family pantomime Cinderella starring Amanda Barrie and Steve Royle have been incorporated in the schools brochure to offer the perfect evening of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

Challenging new contemporary dance performances from Scottish Dance Theatre and Phoenix Dance Theatre have also been included to encourage young people to try out a new art form. And if they don't like the dance performances, we will even give them their money back!

Don't forget… School pupils pay the discounted ticket price advertised with each show whether they come in an organised school outing or with friends and family. So look out for the schools brochure arriving in your classroom or your children's schoolbag! -- www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
