Fire engulfed a two-story building in the garment district of downtown Los Angeles early this morning.

More than 150 firefighters worked for two hours to contain the fire, which started around 4:50 a.m. Flames spread throughout the building and out the roof, fueled by tons of fabric. As a result of the fire, an electric transformer near the building exploded and a manhole cover was blown off the ground.

No injuries have been reported, reports Bitten and Bound

According to Pasadena Star News Fire Chief Douglas Barry said the fire was so intense that firefighters had to battled the flames from outside the building.

"Some 175 firefighters fought the fire that was apparently fueled by tons of fabric. Fire was put out after 6:42 a.m.

"Barry said some electric transformers near the building exploded, and a manhole cover was blown off the ground as a result of the fire, but no one was injured."
