Leading guitarist Jon Sterry rocks for UK Autism Foundation Dinner

The highly acclaimed guitarist, Jon Sterry will rock for the UK Autism Foundation at the first ever Redbridge Community Dinner for Autism scheduled to be held on Saturday 12th July at 7 pm. The community dinner will be held at the All Saints Church Hall in Inman's Row in Woodford Green, Essex.

The community dinner kick starts a massive fundraising campaign by autism campaigners Lee Scott MP and Ivan Corea to raise £10 million to build the first ever state-of-the-art Autism Centre in London - based in the London Borough of Redbridge, an autism school and to launch initiatives to help the poor.

Lee Scott MP for Ilford North is the Patron of the UK Autism Foundation. Scott is appealing to entreprenuers and business companies across the world to partner with the UK Autism Foundation, a new charity for a new generation.

Ivan Corea said: 'We want to build a great Autism Centre for London and we also want to help the poor in the UK and in Africa and Asia. There are many families with autism who are below the poverty line. I join Lee Scott MP in appealing to major doners in the UK and across the world, to help us achieve this target in order for us to reach out to parents, carers, children and adults with autism and Asperger's Syndrome in the United Kingdom and in the Third World.'

The fundraising campaign starts with a Community Dinner in the London Borough of Redbridge. Ivan Corea said; 'I think it is right that we start at the heart of the community. We are a grassroots organisation and we must never forget that we start with the community,' he added.

Peers and MPs have wished the dinner success. There will be an auction of items as well as a sale of items on the night. The aim is to raise start up funds for the formation of the UK Autism Foundation.

Lee Scott MP has been championing the cause of autism in the Palace of Westminster. Last year he initiated a landmark debate on autism in the House of Commons and followed it up with a question on autism in Prime Minister's Questions. Lee Scott and Ivan Corea then met the Prime Minister in his office in the House of Commons and had a discussion on the needs of parents, carers and people with autism in the UK.

Scott is spearheading the massive fundraising campaign to raise £10 million initially for the work of the UK Autism Foundation. The trustees come from the world of business and the community with bank manager Norman Darling, Mike Bowyer, a former executive of the Microsoft Corporation, Mark Baster, a community activist and entreprenur and school governor Susan Bowyer.

Ivan Corea set up the Autism Awareness Campaign UK together with his wife Charika 2000. Since then they have been campaigning on better public services in education, health, specialist sppech therapy and respite care for over 500,000 people with autism in the UK. They are calling on Prime Minister Gordon Brown to launch a national strategy on autism and a 10 year plan of action on autism and Asperger's Syndrome.

Entrance to the Redbridge Community Dinner for Autism is by ticket only - tickets cost £5 for an Asian meal, guests are asked to bring their own drinks. Tickets are available from the All Saint's Church Office in Inman's Row, Woodford Green, Essex.
