Mr Trichet will receive the award in Luxembourg, on 30 June 2008. The laudatio will be given by H.E. Jean-Claude Juncker, Prime Minister of Luxembourg.
Mr Trichet is the tenth recipient of the award and the second President of the European Central Bank to receive it after Dr Willem F. Duisenberg in 1999. The first recipient of the award was Jacques Santer, then President of the European Commission. Other recipients have been Angela Merkel, Javier Solana, Helmut Kohl, Guy Verhofstadt, Jean-Luc Dehaene, Jean-Claude Juncker, and Árpád Göncz.
The event is organised by Clearstream International, the International Central Securities Depository member of Deutsche Boerse Group, and co-sponsored by Dexia/BIL.
