Copenhagen
Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, has lots to offer in terms of history, culture and entertainment. Everyone speaks English and the local currency is Danish kroner (currently 1$ ~ 5 d.kr). As we approach October 2008, more information on what to do, where to eat and what to see in Copenhagen will be available on the site. Meanwhile, find out more at visitdenmark.com or visitcopenhagen.com.

Getting to Copenhagen
All major airlines fly to Copenhagen via cities like London, Amsterdam, Munich or Paris. The local flight company is Scandinavian Airlines and they occasionally have very good offers on flights to/from the US and Asia.

Cross continental travelers

As of 2006, Delta Airlines fly directly Atlanta-Copenhagen, currently ATL-CPH return prices are set around 860$ but better offers have been seen, so keep an eye out for those – also from their partner Lufthansa, currently offering tickets at US $800. If you travel via New York, tickets can currently (December 2007) be found around $660 with companies like KLM. KLM and Lufthansa often have good bargains on tickets to/from Canada as well.

For the low-budget traveler we recommend booking a room (single, double or more people) at the Copenhagen City Center Hostel, situated right between the city centre and ITU. The City Center Hotel is furnished with Danish design furniture and generally has a very good standard. Expect to pay around 142$ or 96 € for a double room, plus around 8 € for breakfast. Rooms should be booked through the website, at least 2 months in advance, and payment mush be received 2 weeks after booking.

The venue of Internet Research Conference
The conference will be hosted by and held at the IT University of Copenhagen, conveniently located not far from the city centre, and capable of offering wireless internet all over the building, and up-to-date projector and sound equipment in all major conference rooms.

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU), founded 1999, offers a variety of programmes in an international atmosphere. Research and teaching are based on a broad approach to IT, from a computer science, a business, and an arts and humanities perspective. The university moved into its current facilities in 2004, and the ITU building, designed by the internationally renowned architect Henning Larsen, is already well-known nationally for its innovative in-door architecture.
