Congressman Dennis Kucinich Moves To Impeach Bush

Democrat congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced a 35-count resolution to impeach U.S. President George W. Bush, claiming that the president set out to deceive the nation, and violated his oath of office with the Iraq war. Impeachment is the first of two stages in a specific process for a legislative body to remove a government official without that official's agreement.

Addressing the House of Representatives on Monday evening, the Ohio congressman and former presidential candidate accused the administration of a number of offenses, including lying to Congress and the public about its reasons for the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

He said Bush "fraudulently" justified the war on Iraq and misled "the American people and members of Congress to believe Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction so as to manufacture a false case for war."

"President George W. Bush, by such conduct, is guilty of an impeachable offense warranting removal from office," Kucinich said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Congress would not pursue the impeachment of Bush saying it was "off the table."

Pelosi and impeachment

I am so disgusted with Pelosi for saying that impeachment is off the table. Will she also say the Constitution is irrelevant? I say that impeachment is ALWAYS an option and it is the difference between a dictatorship and democracy. Pelosi just doesn't get it. What a waste of a leadership position.
