Obama Rides His Bike in Chicago: Coolness Plummets

The family set out on bicycles and the above photo was captured of the candidate looking, shall we say, slightly nerdy in his weekend wear and helmet. Seeing Obama in street clothes is a rarity. We’ve seen him on occasion dressed in sweats while playing hoops in the gym.

This picture looks like something you would see in a Brad and Angelina orchestrated outing. All he needs is a pull cart with a couple of little heads poking out and you’d swear you were witnessing a celebrity money shot at the hands of the swarming paparazzi.

The photo appeared in the New York Daily News. Writer David Saltonstall was pretty hard on Obama, declaring:

"It wasn’t a pretty picture: ill-fitting jeans, a tucked-in golf shirt, black-and-white socks and a helmet that could make Michael Dukakis blush."

Something tells me he hasn’t had many opportunities to be a regular citizen, doing every day things. He’s just out of practice and isn’t likely to hone those skills any time soon. Does this look like the next leader of the free world to you?
