Two suspects have been arrested in connection with Saturday's deadly shooting at a Denny's restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
MSNBC reports that Albuquerque police have arrested two men they believe were involved with an armed robbery that turned into a deadly shooting at a crowded Denny's restaurant.
According to Albuquerque Officer Nadine Hamby, two men were arrested within minutes of the shooting on Saturday on suspicion of murder, kidnapping, robbery and child abuse due to the fact that there were at least five children in the restaurant at the time of the incident. The two suspects are described as South American males in their late 20s to early 30s
All told, authorities believe there were a total of four suspects responsible for the robbery/shooting as they rushed into the packed Denny's restaurant at approximately 9:30 a.m. wearing masks and brandishing rifles and handguns.
A restaurant employee told police they the suspects forced a manager to open the cash register and the robbers took an undetermined amount of money.
At some point during the robbery, a teenage female employee was fatally shot. Police have not yet released her identity.
Police believe the suspects are responsible for 10 similar robberies in the Albuquerque area in the past year, but this is the first in which someone was shot.
Fortunately, police were able to quickly respond to the scene and grab two suspects because there were already 35 detectives in the area at the time of the shooting as part of a special operation targeting robberies.
Investigators are still searching for other suspects and are in the process of interviewing roughly 100 witnesses who were in the restaurant at the time of the shooting.
