TMZ reports that Dr. Conrad Murray has canceled a third interview with the LAPD as the investigation into Michael Jackson's death is now being treated as a homicide investigation and Dr. Murray is certainly the focus of it.
If you will recall, Dr. Conrad Murray, who was with Michael Jackson at the time of his death and even attempted to revive the singer before calling 911 some 30 minutes before ever calling 911, was initially cooperative with the LAPD in their investigation into Michael Jackson's death. However, that did not work out too well for Dr. Murray as we have since learned that he may have made some incriminating statements during the first two interviews.
Even more, whatever Dr. Murray said was sufficient for the LAPD to obtain a search warrant for Michael Jackson's home. As a result of the search warrant, police were able to find numerous bottles of prescription painkillers, as well as, the powerful surgical anesthetic Propofol, a.k.a. Diprivan, which is now believed to be the primary cause of death pending confirmation from the toxicology reports.
Now it seems that Dr. Murray has decided to take my free advice (or the advice of his lawyer) and invoke his constitutional right to remain silent. Dr. Murray, through his lawyer, has canceled a planned third interview with the LAPD, an interview that the L.A. County's Coroner's office was also planning to attend.
It is also worth noting that, according to TMZ, Dr. Murray's lawyer has also decided to remain silent as it was the lawyer's lawyer who actually canceled the interview. When your criminal defense lawyer is hiring his own lawyer, that can't be good.
While no formal charges have been filed against Dr. Conrad Murray, it appears that all eyes are on him as Michael Jackson's death is now being treated as a homicide investigation. Dr. Murray's recent decision to remain silent may be a case of too little too late as it seems his decision to speak openly with police about his involvement immediately following Michael Jackson's death is now coming back to haunt him.
Always remember, anything you say CAN and WILL be used against you.
