Glendale Fire Burns As Residents Evacuate

The Glendale fire burns out of control prompting some residents to evacuate. Forty acres of brush have burned thus far and officials say evacuation may become mandatory if firefighters cannot get the Glendale fires under control.

At 4:10 p.m. the Glendale fire started burning along the brush covered ridge bordering the cities of Glendale and Los Angeles affecting the Eagle Rock and Glenoaks Canyon communities.

While the cause of the Glendale fire has not yet been determined, Los Angeles Fire Department officials are labeling the fires as "suspicious" which means they are not ruling out arson as a possible cause of this fast burning Los Angeles fire.

At this point, evacuations in the Glenoaks community are voluntary but fire officials warn that if they cannot get the upper hand on the Glendale fire, evacuations may become mandatory.

While temperatures in the Glendale area are in the 90s, at this time, winds are light blowing at a mild 10 mph. Helicopters are making water drops on the Glendale fire.
