Psycho Donuts, the new mentally ill themed doughnut shop in Campbell, California, is driving some members of the mental health community crazy amid claims that the edgy new doughnut cafe is exploiting the mentally ill sparking protests and TV debates across the country.

Jordan Zweigoron doesn't know if it's that fact that Psycho Donuts name their tasty creations after actual mental disorders such as The Massive Head Trauma, or if it is the cashiers dressed in old fashion nurses uniforms like Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest or, even, the fact that you can eat the doughnuts in a padded cell. Whatever, the case, Zweigoron, the brains behind this twisted idea, is catching major heat as members of the mental health community are none too pleased with Pyscho Donuts.

Oscar Wright, the CEO for the United Advocates for Children and Families, a group that supports families of children who need mental health services, is aghast at the idea of Psycho Donuts.

"When I saw them [the doughnuts], it was total shock," Wright said. "The Massive Head Trauma - to have a doughnut with a white glazed face and jelly oozing out of it's head, it was incomprehensible." Wright pointed out that some 50,000 a year die from massive head trauma.

According to Zweigoron, Psycho Donuts started catching heat just two weeks after opening.

Many of Psycho Donuts tasty creations get their names directly out of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders. In addition to The Massive Head Trauma (aka M.H.T.) there is the Bi-Polar which is a doughnut with half chocolate and nuts, half coconut flakes.

Psycho Donuts may not be the place for the ultra sensitive or the politically incorrect. But let's keep it in perspective, it's food. So, if you have the stomach for it, pop on into Psycho Donuts in Campbell, California and, what else, go nuts!!!
