At least that is what Boynton Beach Police are saying as they arrested the newlywed Dalia Dippolito Wednesday morning at her home when she allegedly called to report that her husband had been murdered.
Unfortunately for Dalia Dippolito, the dead husband and crime scene were fake. As for her inconsolable sobs and devastated demeanor, those were fake too. Even more unfortunate, the hit man she tried to hire was an undercover cop.
As it turns out Dalia Dippolito's newlywed husband, Michael Dippolito, wasn't dead at all. According to police, a confidential informant had advised them that young Dalia was trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband.
In July 31, police sent an undercover police officer to meet 26-year-old Dippilito and secretly recorded her as she negotiated with what she believed to be the hit man. Dippolito provided the undercover officer with a picture of her husband, his daily schedule and $1200 to purchase a gun to use in the murder.
On Monday, Dippolito met with the hit man and agreed to pay him $3,000 for the murder of her newlywed husband and assured the hit man that she would be very happy when her husband is dead.
On Wednesday morning, Michael Dippolito got a surprise visit at home while young Dalia was at the gym. Boynton Beach Police showed up and told Michael that he needed to come with them as his wife had hired a hit man to murder him.
Michael Dippolito left with the police while they set up a fake crime scene at his home. Dalia Dippolito was then called and told she needed to come home immediately. This is when Dalia Dippolito started to give her Oscar worthy performance.
Dalia Dippolito was arrested for solicitation of murder and his being held in Palm Beach County jail. Dippolito is expected to be arraigned today.
