A female toll collector on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and another man were shot and killed at the Richmond Bridge Plaza in what police are saying was a domestic dispute.

Initial reports indicate that at 5:55 p.m. the driver of a shuttle van pulled up and opened fire with a shotgun killing the female toll collector while she was sitting in Toll Booth 2. The gunman then turned van around and headed east toward Richmond.

The van was described as a white van with orange and black lettering with the words "Western Shuttle" stenciled along the side.

In addition to the female toll collector, a man was also killed while sitting inside a white Chevy pickup in the parking lot.

One witness said the suspected gunman in the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge killings went from toll booth to toll booth smashing out windows with the butt of his shotgun. If this account is true, it would seem the suspect was looking specifically for the female toll worker that was shot and killed.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Ralph Caggiano, the suspect driver of the Richmond San Rafael Bridge killing has been identified as Nathan Burris and last seen heading east toward Interstate 80.

The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is the northernmost of the east–west crossings of the San Francisco Bay into California. It connects Richmond on the east to the west side of San Rafael.
