LA Students Must Sign No Dirty Dancing Contracts

If you are a high school student in Los Angeles, you can still get your boogie on at school but you first have to sign a No Dirty Dancing contract. In an effort to stop the growing trend of sexually explicit dancing and shield the school from potential sexual harassment lawsuits, some Los Angeles area high schools are asking students to sign No Dirty Dancing contracts before cutting a rug at school sponsored dances.

Among the first Los Angeles high schools to introduce the No Dirty Dancing contracts were Downey High School and Aliso Niguel High School. Both parent and student must sign the dance contract before the kid gets to bust a move on the dance floor.

Among some of the inappropriate dance moves banned in No Dirty Dancing contracts are the following:

- freaking
- grinding
- genital rubbing
- breast grabbing
- butt groping
- leg straddling

The No Dirty Dancing contract in Ventura Unified high schools reads in part:

"When dancing back to front, all dancers must remain upright -- no sexual bending is allowed i.e. no hands on knees and no hands on the dance floor with your buttocks touching your dance partner."

In addition to the No Dirty Dancing contracts, many schools are employing a group of chaperons known as the "Freak Patrol" to enforce the dancing ban.

Schools are also imposing a no dirty dancing dress code. Female students cannot wear bubble dresses, exposed underwear or low-cut dresses while male students cannot wear hats, chains, and canes

So what happens if a student breaches the No Dirty Dancing contract? Punishment ranges from the student being asked to leave the dance, to parents being contacted and, even, losing future school dance privileges. Say it ain't so!

The No Dirty Dancing contracts came about as Los Angeles high schools became concerned over potential sexual harassment charges.
