Florida Gators Star Arrested for DUI

The Florida Gators star defensive end, Carlos Dunlap, has been arrested for DUI. Carols Dunlap's DUI arrest occurred early Tuesday morning after a Gainesville police officer found the Florida Gators football star asleep in his car with the engine running.

According to Carlos Dunlap's DUI arrest report, Gainesville police officer Robert Rogers came upon the Dunlap's Chrysler stopped at a light at 3:25 a.m. Officer Rogers approached the Florida Gator star only to find Dunlap asleep behind the wheel with the key in the ignition, the engine running and the car in gear. Verbal efforts to wake Dunlap were unsuccessful.

Officer Rogers stated in his DUI arrest report as follows:

“The front windows of the defendant’s vehicle were cracked slightly and officers on the scene were unable to wake the defendant. Loud repetitive commands were given to the defendant who would only open his eyes momentarily and nod back off.”

As result, Officers Rogers reached through the partially opened window to unlock the car, put the car in park and turn off the engine.

The Florida Gators star defensive end was arrested for DUI after Officer Rogers made a number of DUI-related observations including the odor of alcohol, blood shot and watery eyes, the fact that Dunlap couldn't keep his balance and that Dunlap failed to perform well on the field sobriety tests.

After refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test, Carlos Dunlap was arrested for DUI and taken to jail.

The Florida Gator star's DUI arrest comes just four days before his No. 1 ranked team is scheduled to play No. 2 ranked Alabama for the SEC title at the Georgia Dome. Florida Gator's head coach Urban Meyer stated that he "aware of the incident and are currently gathering more information" before deciding what to do about it.
