DUI iPhone App Released by Colorado DOT

The fight against drunk driving just got high-tech with the release of a DUI iPhone app called "R-U-Buzzed." The "R-U-Buzzed" DUI iPhone app was released by the Colorado Department of Transportation ("DOT") and quickly calculates a person blood alcohol concentration and lets them know if they are impaired.

The "R-U-Buzzed" DUI iPhone app is available for everyone as a free download and was created by the Colorado DOT which invested $8,000 to develop the technology.

The "R-U-Buzzed" DUI iPhone app calculates a person's blood alcohol concentration using a number of factors including the person's sex, weight, what they had to drink (beer, wine and/or liquor), how much they had to drink and over what period of time they consumed they drank it. The DUI iPhone app then flashed an estimate of the person's BAC along with a message indicating whether they are impaired.

The "R-U-Buzzed" DUI iPhone app is also equipped with a speed dial to call a taxi cab. Nice little perk!

The iPhone app is being released as part of Colorado's holiday "Plan Ahead" campaign aimed at reducing the number of DUIs in the state. In addition to the "R-U-Buzzed" DUI iPhone app, the Colorado DOT's "Plan Ahead campaign also includes $5 taxi cab vouchers at local restaurants and discounts on hotels and parking lots where people can leave their cas overnight if they have had too much to drink.
