Lackluster consumer confidence in online purchases accounts for the overwhelming majority of terminated transactions. To help boost consumer confidence in purchasing online, McAfee announced today that numerous large e-retailers have embraced McAfee SECURE service.

Less than a month after it was launched, McAfee SECURE -- the industry's most comprehensive certification service - has been adopted by brands such as PETCO, PC Mall, Footsmart, K-Swiss, Etoys.com and others. These companies understand that displaying the McAfee SECURE Trustmark on their sites is an important step in building consumer trust in shopping online.

"It's clear that our customers have a higher level of confidence in shopping at PETCO.com because we carry the McAfee SECURE Trustmark," said Katie Grisko, e-commerce product manager at PETCO. "McAfee SECURE helps build trust with our customers, which ultimately increases our online sales and brand loyalty."

McAfee SECURE for Web Sites, leveraging Hacker Safe technology, combines daily vulnerability scanning, rigorous security testing, and business practice review for Web site owners and online retailers, making it the most comprehensive certification service in the industry. With the McAfee SECURE for Web Sites service, e-commerce merchants can also demonstrate they are Payment Card Industry Certified.

"McAfee is committed to delivering the secure Internet for consumers and with multiple levels of Web site security testing, McAfee SECURE provides
e-retailers with the most comprehensive protection service in the industry," said Tim Dowling, vice president, Web Security Group at McAfee. "The decision by so many e-retailers to choose the McAfee SECURE service as a safeguard for their customers is a ringing endorsement of our products and our ongoing commitment to protect the personal identity and credit card information of consumers shopping online. With the McAfee SECURE Trustmark, we help consumers eliminate the guesswork in determining the Web sites that are secure and those that are not, thereby restoring their confidence in the e-commerce industry."
