Alley, 57, was dropped several months ago as the spokesperson of weight-loss company Jenny Craig after having been its public marketing face for almost four years. Actress Valerie Bertinelli who has slimmed down significantly since being hired as spokeswoman has replaced Alley.
A few months ago, Alley had announced she was planning to launch her own weight-loss company and product during 2009. But seeing her ever-increasing weight, it's unclear whether she's moving forward on that venture.
Kirstie Alley has not completely stayed away from the big screen, as she is currently filming the romantic comedy "Nailed" (2009) starring James Marsden, Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal.
"Nailed" is the story of a small town waitress who gets a nail accidentally lodged in her head causing unpredictable behavior that leads her to Washington, DC, where sparks fly when she meets a clueless young senator who takes up her cause.
Alley has battled huge weight fluctuations for years, and has also overcome drug abuse. She's divorced from actor Parker Stevenson and reached a high point in her weight battle when she appeared in a bikini on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2006.
