New Jersey Theatre Presents Louis C.K.

State Theatre and AM Productions present comedian Louis C.K. on Friday, June 25, 2008 at 8pm. Louis is the star, creator, and executive producer of HBOO's first and only multi-camera sitcom, Lucky Louie. Tickets range from $25-55.

A stand-up comedian, television writer, producer, and filmmaker, Louis C.K. began his career at a comedy club in Boston for an open-mic night in 1984. After a self-proclaimed failed first attempt, he returned two years later and quickly became a part of the Boston stand-up scene. He moved to New York in 1989, and began appearing on television shows such as Evening at the Improv, MTV Half Hour Comedy Hour, Comic Strip Live, Comedy on the Road, and Star Search.

In 1993, Louis was hired as a writer for the The Conan O'Brien Show. A member of the original writing staff that launched the show, Louis created many running bits for the show that are still in use there today such as "Actual Items" and "The Staring Contest". Louis also made his network television debut as a stand-up on Conan, as the first stand-up comedian to appear on the show.

Soon after, Louis went on to win an EmmyO Award for his work on The Chris Rock Show. Other television credits include Late Show With David Letterman, The Dana Carvey Show, Saint Louie, and the HBOO comedy special Shameless.

Louis has also written and directed several movies including: Tomorrow Night (his first feature film) and Pootie Tang. In addition, he wrote the scripts for the Chris Rock movies Down To Earth and I Think I Love My Wife. -- www.statetheatrenj.org
