The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of a brand of bottled water that may pose health risks to consumers.
The recall targets one-gallon Nestle Pure Life Purified Drinking Water products sold in Shop-Rite stores in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York.
The FDA said that the water may contain a diluted form of a common food grade cleaning compound that leads to a bitter or sour taste. If ingested in high amounts over a long period of time, this could pose a possible health concern. It is advised that the water not be consumed or used in preparing infant formulas or other foods and drinks.
Affected by the recall are 150 one-gallon jugs of the water that were produced on May 5, 2008. The first line of the product data code printed on the shoulder of the bottles is 050508126WF024, and the second line starts with the numbers "08."

#1 Bottled water recall alert
Thank you for the bottled water alert. We drink Nestle's bottled water in 16.9 fl. oz. We live in the state of Maryland.
Although our water was not included in your recall I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the information.
