Vanessa Redgrave said today, "I am so excited that the Year of Magical Thinking will be in this great international Theatre Festival in Dublin. Long long ago I played my first lead role with Gladys Cooper in a play called "Look On Tempests" (the title taken from a Shakespeare sonnet). We played Dublin just before coming to London. I fell in love with the fair city and her unparalleled streets. I paid homage to the remains of Robert Emmett. I was taken to a shebeen, and had a one-nighter with a Trinity College student.

Since then I have been back to Dublin many times. Visiting Maestro Boorman on a friend's motorbike. When my brother Corin was filming "In The name of The Father" with Jim Sheridan, Corin and he organised a celebration for our mother Rachel's 80th birthday and we had a big family reunion on the way to the Wicklow mountains. My daughter Natasha Richardson gave birth to her and Liam's first son while Liam was filming "Michael Collins".

When Seamus Heaney presented Vaclav Havel with the Ambassador of Conscience Award from Arts For Amnesty, and I had the privilege of reading that superb poem. Filming with Brenda Fricker in "How About You" directed by Anthony Byrne. Then recently for a special Amnesty International Ireland fundraiser...This time I shall be in Dublin for a whole week. These will be the final performances of David Hare's production of Joan Didion's "Magical Thinking".I promise you I am incredibly honoured that these will be at Dublin's Gaiety in this great Theatre Festival."

Performance will take place from September 30 to October 4. -- www.dublintheatrefestival.com
