Fourteen years ago, Fox McCloud and his band of ace space pilots blasted off together to save the Lylat System. They became overnight heroes with a glorious future ahead of them.
With each new threat to the galaxy, the team would band together to save the day; from ousting prehistoric oppressors in Star Fox Adventures to saving the system from insectoid infestation in Star Fox Assault.
However, for Fox's first Nintendo DS mission, Star Fox Command, a blend of touch screen strategy and ace aerial combat, he finds himself alone. And to make matters worse, a seemingly unstoppable new force has risen from the depths of Planet Venom's oceans and launched an attack on the Lylat System.
Now more serious and stubborn than ever, Fox prepares to take on the Anglar invaders single-handed. But why is Fox willing to risk his life so recklessly, and what happened to the other members of the Star Fox team? Here we present the story so far, depicted in-game by impressive animated cutscenes:
Peppy
Once Fox's mentor, Peppy Hare has now become leader of the Cornerian forces following General Pepper's illness. Peppy was Fox's only link to his long-lost father James McCloud.
Slippy
Fox's closest friend Slippy Toad, and the team's technical expert, has fallen in love with a girl named Amanda, and decided to leave Star Fox to start a new life with his beloved fiancée.
Falco
The brash, authority-bucking but highly skilled pilot Falco Lombardi has become a thrill-seeking loner, drifting from job to job in search of adventures that remind him of his time in Star Fox.
Krystal
After falling in love with Fox when he rescued her from Dinosaur Planet, Krystal became a member of Star Fox until she was forced to leave - for her own safety - by Fox himself. No-one has seen her since.
How will the story continue? That's up to you. Star Fox Command features a branching level structure that results in nine possible endings to discover.
Throughout the game you'll get the chance to play not only as Fox but also as the ex-members of the Star Fox team, each with their own unique vehicles and weaponry.
Only by replaying the game multiple times will you unlock new paths, giving you access to new playable characters and new missions that lead to a variety of resolutions. Some endings are happy, some not so, but all offer a different conclusion to the long-running saga of the Star Fox team.
So, the question remains: can Fox McCloud reunite his old friends, as well as defeat the Anglar emperor's plans for total galactic domination?
Find out in Star Fox Command - coming to Nintendo DS on January 26 - Nintendo.
