Equally as successful in the UK, the only other market it has opened in thus far, the London Times enthused Kenny is, “one of the funniest, warmest films of the year. Highly recommended,” while Empire magazine said the film is “charming, disarming and funny as hell; the perfect anecdote to any disappointing number of blockbuster(s).” Catch the LA debut at Laemmle's One Colorado in Pasadena or Laemmle's Monica 4-plex in Santa Monica (Laemmle’s Sunset 5 TBD), on Friday, July 18, 2008, immediately followed by screenings in select cities. One of Australia’s most critically acclaimed homegrown sensations in ages, the talented Jacobson Brothers, created Kenny. Like many “brother” teams before them, the co-writers’ talents and roles cover much of the film’s key positions. The runaway hit stars co-producer Shane Jacobson as the lovable Kenny, while Clayton Jacobson directed/produced/shot and was the principal editor of the production. The film marks the culmination of the Brothers’ many years in their respective fields as Performer and Director.
From the biggest music festival to the smallest church social, Kenny delivers port-o-potties to them all. Ignored and unappreciated, he is one of the cogs in humanity's machinery, an unsung knight in shining overalls taking care of society’s dirty work.
The film follows Kenny and his faithful crew as they embrace every septic challenge that comes their way, culminating in a pilgrimage to that Mecca of waste management, the International Pumper and Cleaner Expo in Nashville, Tennessee - or as Kenny affectionately calls it, "Poo HQ."
Kenny provides an essential service few bother to think about, taking care of business with fly-on-the-wall honesty and wit while juggling family tensions, fatherhood and waste all with charm, humor and unflinching dignity.
And yet, no matter what heights he reaches in his field of expertise, Kenny knows his biggest challenge is still to come: proving himself to the one person from whom he’s always been a disappointment—his father.
Kenny is living proof that in life, as in sewage, the best will always rise to the top.
On par with such disarming comedies as Muriel’s Wedding, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Waking Ned Devine, and Strictly Ballroom, Australia’s Herald Sun raved, “It is the funniest, most genuine and utterly enchanting Australian comedy,” giving Kenny a remarkable four and one half stars. The Sunday Times of Australia was equally as enthused: “This is a big statement to make, but I’m going to make it nonetheless – Kenny is the best Australian comedy since…in fact, I’ll go one better by saying it’s one of Australia’s best EVER.”

Kenny played elsewhere
Not to quibble with the facts, but Kenny opened (in a surprise to us as well) at the non-profit Grand Cinema one month prior to the opening in L.A. Saying it opens first in L.A. is incorrect. It is still paying there 4 weeks after opening. And people should definitely see it; it is very funny and heart warming at the same time.
