This concert will feature the music of Hollywood classics and modern favorites, from Star Wars and Superman to Pirates of the Caribbean. Also featured on the program will be Hartford Symphony Concertmaster Leonid Sigal performing the haunting violin solo from John Williams' "Three Pieces from Schindler's List".

"It's always great fun conducting the Hartford Symphony at the Talcott Mountain Music Festival," says guest conductor Jeff Tyzik, who returns to Simsbury following the "Salute to Sinatra & Dorsey" with Southington native Steve Lippia last July. "I look forward to our night of movie classics with music from Schindler's List, The Magnificent Seven, Dances With Wolves, Ben Hur, Rocky, Superman, Pirates of the Caribbean and much more" said Tyzik.

Jeff Tyzik has earned a reputation as one of America's most innovative POPS! conductors, having recently conducted the March 2008 "Celtic Celebration" with Cathie Ryan in Hartford. Described by the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle as "among the best pops conductors in America," Tyzik is recognized for his brilliant arrangements, original programming, and engaging rapport with audiences of all ages. Principal Pops Conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for over a decade, he also serves as Principal Pops Conductor of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Hartford Symphony Concertmaster Leonid Sigal has enjoyed a multi-faceted career as recitalist, chamber musician and orchestra leader. He recently conducted and was the featured soloist with the Hartford Symphony on a program of works by Mozart and Poulenc in Simsbury, West Hartford, and Torrington. Since early performances he was praised by audiences and critics for his virtuosity and musical sensitivity. Previously Associate Concertmaster of the Florida Philharmonic, he had also performed with the San Diego Symphony. From 2001 to 2004 he served as Artistic Director of the Miami Chamber Symphony. Mr. Sigal serves on the faculty of University of Hartford's The Hartt School.

The Movie Classics concert begins at 7:30 p.m. (rain or shine) with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Free to all ticket holders, the Hartford Symphony Musical Pathways Tent will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., engaging children with fun, music-themed games before each concert. -- www.hartfordsymphony.org
