Beatlemania Hits The Talcott Mountain Music Festival

Iron Horse Boulevard in Simsbury will feel like "Penny Lane" as the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and special guests Classical Mystery Tour - featuring original members of the Broadway sensation Beatlemania - "Come Together" for a Beatles tribute at the Talcott Mountain Music Festival on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows in Simsbury.

Guest conductor Martin Herman will lead an unforgettable evening of fan favorites ranging from "She Loves You" to "Imagine" (see full program listing below).

The Classical Mystery Tour is presented "With a Little Help From (Our) Friends," concert sponsor Walker Systems Support. The Talcott Mountain Music Festival is presented by Chubb.

The four musicians of Classical Mystery Tour look and sound like The Beatles, but Classical Mystery Tour is more than just a rock concert, presenting Beatles tunes sung, played, and performed exactly as they were written. With accompaniment from the Hartford Symphony, audiences will hear "Penny Lane" with trumpets, experience the mystery of "Eleanor Rigby" with a string section, and enjoy the blend of rock and classical on "I Am the Walrus."

Starting with their first show at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, Classical Mystery Tour has been a hit with both critics and fans. The Los Angeles Times called the show "more than just an incredible simulation...the swelling strings and soaring French horn lines gave the live performance a high goose-bump quotient...the crowd stood and bellowed for more."

Classical Mystery Tour features Jim Owen (as John Lennon) on rhythm guitar, piano, and vocals; Glen Burtnik (as Paul McCartney) on bass guitar, piano, and vocals; Tom Teeley (as George Harrison) on lead guitar and vocals; and Chris Camilleri (as Ringo Starr) on drums and vocals. Martin Herman conducts, as well as arranged the Beatles Medley Overture which starts the program.

"The power of the emotional and nostalgic connection back to each of our individual experiences with The Beatles is hard to put into words," explains Owen, who admits that he and the other three Classical Mystery Tour members are big Beatles fans. "We really make an effort to sound like the originals. The orchestra score is exact, right down to every note and instrument that was on the original recording."

The Classical Mystery Tour concert begins at 7:30 p.m. (rain or shine) with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Free to all ticket holders, the Hartford Symphony Musical Pathways Tent will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., engaging children with fun, music-themed games before each concert. -- www.hartfordsymphony.org
