Independent Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader today released the following letter to radio talk show host, Rush Limbaugh.

Rush Limbaugh
The Rush Limbaugh Show
2 Penn Plaza
New York, NY 10121

Dear Mr. Limbaugh,

The Associated Press reports your new contract with Premiere Radio Networks will enrich you with at least $38 million a year over the next eight years. You are making this money on the public property of the American people for which you pay no rent.

You, Rush Limbaugh, are on welfare.

As you know, the public airwaves belong to the American people. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is supposed to be our trustee in managing this property. The people are the landlords and the radio and TV stations and affiliated companies are the tenants.

The problem is that since the Radio Act of 1927 these corporate tenants have been massively more powerful in Washington, DC than the tens of millions of listeners and viewers. The result has been no payment of rent by the stations for the value of their license to broadcast. You and your company are using the public's valuable property for free. This freeloading on the backs of the American people is called corporate welfare.

It is way past due for the super-rich capitalist--Rush Limbaugh from Cape Girardeau, Missouri--to get himself off big time welfare. It is way past due for Rush Limbaugh as the Kingboy of corporatist radio to set a capitalist example for his peers and pay rent to the American people for the very lucrative use of their property.

You need not wait for the broadcast industry-indentured FCC and Congress to do the right thing. You can lead by paying a voluntary rent--determined by a reputable appraisal organization--for the time you use on the hundreds of stations that carry your words each weekday.

Payment of rent for the use of public airwaves owned by the American people is the conservative position. Real conservatives oppose corporate welfare. Real corporatists feed voraciously from hundreds of billions of dollars in corporate welfare gushing out of Washington, DC yearly.

Whose side are you on? Freeloading? Or paying rent for the public property you have been using free for many years?

I look forward to your response.

Sincerely yours,

Ralph Nader

Looks like Mr. Nader is starved for attention. Poor Ralph, he can only dream of having an engaged, intelligent audience of the size that Rush Limbaugh has.

Ralph, You are such a stale joke, I guess this is the only way you can draw attention to your pathetic attempt to stay relevant. But hang in there, and hopefully you'll still take a few votes away from your fellow marxists. Karl

As a 62yr old who served in the military but did not serve in Viet Nam like the heroes who did; I have always been curious how a war supporting patriot like Rush avoided the draft with a cist up his anus. It strikes me as rather odd that he now earns his livelyhood sitting on that draft dogding anus and encourages our government to fight the world. He's in good company dick and shurb also avoided service though shurb did attend a few drills. It is always a mystery how those who fight so hard to avoid military service in their youth become so rabid about service in their old age. After many years of thought on this issue I've reached the conclusion that they were cowards as young men and feel guilty in old age. We now have young women who volunteer to put their lives on the line who are being encouraged by cowards like rush, dick, and george to stay the course in the mideast. My how the country has changed that these young men and women suffer more and give more so that cigar smoking lard butts like limbaugh can run their mouths behind a microphone in a sound booth encouraging them to die. And now we're going to have another 8 yrs of thrash talking until we all think like limbaugh is enough to vomit over. Most of the right are like him; they have the protection of our military while they make large sums taking advantage of the ordinary people. I believe people like Limbaugh would be the first to cry for mercy and the first to rat out others. What a wonderland people like limbaugh live in.

To Jessie, the "Vietnam Vet", nice talking points from Media Matters. Try to learn something outside the liberal quackery for a change. I wonder if you served with John Kerry. Sounds like you may have been on the same swift boat.

What a great letter. Way to go Ralph. That will put Limbaugh on the spot. It will be interesting to see how he responds, if he does.

Dear Mr. Nader, We don't want the Government to extract more economic booty from the economy. In fact, we want the Government to lower it's take from the economy and from the American People. When I buy an ad on the radio, I do not want to have a surcharge of 10%, 20% or 50% to go to the Government. The People of the United States do not want your socialist ways where you take from each according to his ability and give to each according to his need. That approach is an abonimantion that is morally, politically and spiritually bankrupt. We don't want it! Go home, smoke your herbs and leave us alone. Grant in Texas

Sorry, Ralphie, but Rush has given me the education of a lifetime. Consider his salary to be something like a tax for education - the one I didn't get while in public education. I'm learning far more and benefiting man by being a productive human being. The public education system is trying to produce leaches, not producers.

Keep up the good work, Ralph. The shoe fits - but Rush is too busy sticking both feet in his mouth to recognize it.
