Senate Votes to Override Bush's Medicare Veto of HR-6331

The following is a statement by R Scott Ward, PT, PhD, President, American Physical Therapy Association on the Senate vote overriding Bushs Medicare Veto:

"The American Physical Therapy Association applauds the Senate for
joining the House of Representatives in recognizing the need to protect Medicare beneficiaries who need rehabilitation services the most -- seniors and persons with disabilities -- and voting to override President Bush's veto of HR 6331, the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act."

"Millions of Americans' quality of life and well-being will now be
protected because of the smart voting decisions made by both the House and Senate. We appreciate the leadership of all of the members of Congress who stepped up and took action to address this critical situation."

"HR 6331 includes provisions essential for Medicare beneficiaries to
maintain access to needed physical therapist services, reversing the 10.6% cut in payments under the Medicare physician fee schedule and the expiration of the therapy cap exceptions process."
