"Thanks for waiting," read the title of the post announcing the release of Pwnage 2.0. This software application released by the iPhone Dev Team allows third-party applications to be loaded on older iPhones and iPod Touches as long as they are running the iPhone 2.0 operating system.
However, the software does not unlock the new iPhone 3G which would allow it to be used on unauthorized cell networks.
According to a few individuals who have tested the software, the installations seem o be going very well on both the new and older models of iPhone. Whereas the software released by the iPhone Dev Team can not unlock the new iPhone 3G, a Brazilian blog claimed that the iPhone 3G had been unlocked.
A special SIM card adapter that tricks the iPhone 3G into thinking it's on an approved network was used. Last week, Apple had sold up to one million iPhone 3Gs during its first weekend on the market.
