Joe Lieberman, former democratic nominee for vice president and a current consultant and supporter of Sen. John McCain is set to make a rare appearance with controversial pastor john hagee. He is expected to deliver a speech at a conference organized by the Texas based pastor, particularly known for his sometimes weird comments regarding Israel, the roman catholic church and Islam.

The independent Senator from Connecticut is expected to make a speech in Washington, D.C., at Conference of Christians United for Israel, an organization that addresses members of the United States congress, professing a biblical justification for the defense of Israel.

Lieberman and Hagee are both staunch supporters of republican presidential nominee John McCain who disagreed with and rejected Hagee's endorsement in May over his claims that god sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the Promised Land and Hagee’s comments, broadcasts and writings which were seen as anti-catholic

McCain initially said, "I’m very proud to have pastor Hagee’s support", but after an uproar over Hagee's supposed anti-Catholicism, McCain declared "I repudiate any comments that are made, including pastor Hagee's, if they are anti-catholic or offensive to Catholics.”

Lieberman’s appearance has not gone well with some sections of the public who still view him with a lot of skepticism. In fact, some liberal groups have advised Joe to cut ties with the controversial man of god.

Hagee has been criticized for his comments about Israel, the Roman Catholic Church and Islam. Hagee has been heavily criticized by Bill Moyers, a journalist who claims that Hagee and other evangelicals are working towards supporting the religious right.

a campaign called "don't go Joe" organized by the group j street, a group very skeptical of Hagee and other Christian Zionists said yesterday they delivered to Joe’s office more than 42,000 signatures, urging him to abandon his plans to appear with evangelist Hagee.

in august 2000, Lieberman was chosen as the nominee for vice president of the united states by then democratic presidential candidate al gore. Lieberman was the first Jewish candidate on a major political party ticket.
