Day 1 As An iPhone 3G User

The iPhone 3G has been with me for a full day now and it’s been great so far. I absolutely love the look of the white iPhone. It’s the best. It looks fantastic and matches my Macbook perfectly.

The iPhone 3G feels a lot lighter and feels better in your hand. I was trying to be very careful with it all day. I would be devastated if I dropped it or got some scratches on it. I’ve really noticed how fast the 3G speeds actually are. The iPhone is truly a breakthrough internet device now.

At 20% battery left I had got quite a bit of use out of it. I used a total of 87.8 mb’s. That is a lot of data usage for one day. Good thing Rogers/Fido got their act together and gave us the $30 - 6gb plan. I mean how could anyone live with 400mb? I used my iPhone for a lot of email, a few songs, some GPS, and a fair amount of surfing. The battery definitely didn’t last long but I guess that is expected with iPhone 3G.

At least I made it through the day without having to charge it.

I had the iPhone 3G on for most of the day with wifi on for only a few minutes. Looks like I will be charging it most nights. It’s definitely a lot worse than my old iPhone which would get about 4 hours usage and 3 days standby. It’s hard to tell though because I wasn’t using any data for such a long time.

Overall, I am very happy with my iPhone 3G. I’m not all that happy with the price I paid for it but I will have to live with that. If you haven’t got one yet, I highly recommend you do.
