The review meeting is a second of its kind since last week when the Home Ministry had gone into the security scenario in the country and issued advisories to various states asking them to be on high alert.

Terror struck Ahmedabad on Saturday when 16 coordinated serial blasts ripped through the city killing 45 people and injuring 162 sending a wave of panic, a day after multiple explosions rocked Bangalore.

A string of nine synchronised low intensity bomb blasts rocked Bangalore Friday, leaving two killed and injuring 12 others.

After the review meeting, Shivraj Patil along with Madhukar Gupta and other senior officials of the Home Ministry briefed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about the security scenario in the country.

The Minister and officials drove to Singh's 7, Race Course Road residence and apprised him of the security situation in the wake of the serial blasts that rocked Ahmedabad on Saturday.
