Beijing 2008 Olympic Events Sold Out

Tickets for Olympic events in Beijing are completely sold out. The authorities say there are still some tickets for events in other cities.

The last 820,000 tickets went on sale last Friday and there was chaos at ticket booths in Beijing as tens of thousands of people tried to break through police cordons in an attempt to reach the ticket window.

The Beijing Olympic authorities issued a total of 7 million tickets.

The world's best athletes will begin to move into Beijing's Olympic Village starting on Sunday, July 27, embarking on their stay in safe, comfortable, warm accommodations while in the Chinese capital.

The Olympic Village in Beijing will be home to 16,000 athletes and representatives from over 200 countries and regions around the world.

At 9:20 on Sunday morning, a fantastic opening ceremony was held in the flag raising plaza of the Village, after which the Chinese Olympic delegation proudly stepped across the threshold, becoming the first athletic group to enter Beijing's Olympic Village.
