A man was arrested in connection with the murder of Spc. Megan Lynn Touma, 23, an Army dental specialist who was seven months’ pregnant. She was found dead in her room at the Fairfield Inn near Cross Creek Mall on June 21 2008.

Since then, the authorities have been combing left and right to get her murderer(s).However, on Tuesday; a man was arrested in Hope Mills in connection to the murder.

A soldier, Edgar Patino Lopez of 374 Lairgate Road in Hope Mills, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Spc. Megan Touma according to sketchy details emanating from the police.
Spc. Megan Lynn Touma was discovered by a hotel maintenance supervisor when he smelled a strong unpleasant odor coming from the room. She was found lying dead in birthtub.Touma had recently arrived from a base in Germany.

According to authorities, Touma and a close pal were both stationed in Bamberg Germany before reporting to Fort Bragg.

According to Lt. Col. John Clearwater, spokesman for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, the soldier was training at a school where special operations ranging from raids to reconstruction projects are taught.

Police did not clarify whether the close pal which they say was being pursued is Edgar Patino Lopez.

What is rather strange is that some one someone sent a letter to the Fayetteville Observer claiming responsibility for Touma's death.

According to the letter, the author confessed to being an addict killer. Touma was the second pregnant Fort Bragg soldier to be found murdered in the past year.
