Leading Retailers Operations with Dell

Z Gallerie, Bike World Select the Performance and Value of Dell Retail Solutions

Dell today announced that Z Gallerie and Bike World have selected Dell Retail solutions to help them streamline and improve their operations, from point-of-sale and back-office operations to the data center.

"Companies want flexible, relevant solutions from one provider, and Dell provides value with integrated hardware and services," said Vincent Vargas, senior manager, Dell Retail.

With its growing retail client roster, Dell continues to gain momentum in the Retail market for its end-to-end retail solutions that are based on industry standard technology and help retailers more effectively manage operations. Dell Retail sales have grown 25 percent year-over-year since 2003.

"The rate of technology adoption continues to accelerate as retailers invest in hardware and software to help differentiate themselves," said Greg Buzek, president of IHL Consulting Group, based in Franklin, Tenn. "More and more retailers of all sizes realize the value of standards-based technology."

Z Gallerie

Z Gallerie, a unique lifestyle retailer that offers a variety of high-quality, reasonably priced merchandise for the home with 74 retail locations in 23 states, uses Dell technology, such as DellTM OptiPlexTM computers, Dell PowerEdgeTM servers and Dell printers to support its POS and administrative operations. Headquartered in Los Angeles the retailer remains competitive and meets its challenges of rapid growth as it expands more than 15 percent annually.

"Dell technology helps us gain access to real-time information, which is critical to our business," said Howard Kolodny, Z Gallerie's director of IT. "It also offers us the dependability and price-performance we need in order to grow."

Bike World

Bike World, a premier pro cycling shop with three locations in San Antonio, chose Dell when it sought to replace outdated POS systems that hindered inventory tracking and slowed the customer experience. The company installed a new POS system based on Dell PowerEdge 2800 and PowerEdge 830 servers, Dell touch screen monitors, Dell OptiPlex GX620 computers, and Dell peripherals including receipt printers, keyboards, and countertop displays.

The Dell-based POS infrastructure improved inventory tracking and customer service and helped Bike World align compensation with sales.

"The new POS system has revolutionized our business," said Whit Snell, founder and owner of Bike World. "When customers stand in front of our Dell POS system and experience the smooth flow and presentation of the transaction, they have confidence in our prices, system accuracy and sales people."
