Most of the negative impact on the Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) (minus 28,48 points), Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) (minus 28,32) and Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (minus 26,68 points), JSC Uralkali ordinary shares (URKA) (minus 6,26 points) and NLMK ordinary shares (NLMK) (minus 4,77 points).
The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 shed 5,45% to reach 2281,04 points (2412,62 points as of July 18th, 2008). Last week all the key sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a clearly negative trend. Metals & Mining reported the largest drop: the RTS Index - Metals & Mining shrank by 12,99%, followed by the Oil & Gas sector: the corresponding Sectoral Index went down by 8,36%. The slightest decline was registered in the Telecom, the corresponding RTS Sectoral Index dropped 2,54%.
The total trading volume on RTS for the week July 21st – 25th, 2008 equaled 5,7 bln dollars (133,1 bln roubles*), including all types of trades.
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) – $47,881 mln., ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) – $30,486 mln. and Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) – $26,988 mln. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 22,52%, 14,34% and 12,70% accordingly.
The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of the Tula Retail Company (TLSB) – by 14,04% to $0,0325, privileged shares of Transneft (TRNFP) – by 13,45% to $1350,00 and ordinary shares of JSC "Pharmstandard" (PHST) – by 3,91% to $71,70.
The week's top losers were Mechel ОАО ordinary shares (MTLR), that fell in price by 30,41% to reach $25,75, privileged shares of PJSC "Krasny Kotelshchik" (KRKOP) that closed 26,67% down at $0,55 per share and ordinary shares of "FGC UES ", JSC (FEES) that posted 23,38% loss at $0,0118. -- www.rts.ru
