Chicago Tornado Eyewitness Account Of The Weather

I was scheduled to fly back to Louisville this evening, but those plans shifted a bit when a nice all strongly rotating thunderstorm passed through Chicago land. Was it a tornado?

It was a good storm; I’m in Lincoln Park, and gusts of 68 mph were recorded here - not quite the highest I’ve seen, but pretty darn close. Awesome lighting; it looked like daylight for a while outside.

Thankfully, Southwest switched my flight for free. US Airways, take a note - SWA knows how to do business with its customers.

I’m not sure if there was an actual tornado yet. We did have about 45 minutes worth of tornado warnings, and one of the warnings from the NWS stated that a funnel cloud and/or a tornado had been spotted in central Cook County (i.e. Chicago-city and its ‘burbs).

Will probably find out in the morning the extent of what happened.
