Ann Arbor Orchestra Presents 'Afternoon Delights'

On September 17th at 2:00 pm at the Jewish Community Center (2935 Birch Hollow Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48108, 734-971-0990), the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra (A2SO) will host a performance of music for the Harp, featuring Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra's Principal Harpist Amy Ley. Dessert is served at 1:30 pm followed at 2:00 pm by the one-hour concert. Single tickets are available at the door for $8. A season of five Afternoon Delights concerts is $35.

Ley will be joined by Flutist Emily Perryman for several of the pieces. The complete program includes the following pieces:

The Afternoon Delights series (formerly known as Matinée Musicale) is a calendar of classical music concerts offered through the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for citizens to enjoy top-quality professional music at an affordable price, midday time and convenient location. These non-denominational concerts are supported by the Howard Ando & Jane Wilkinson in memory of Florence Ando, CFI Group, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs.

Amy Ley received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Michigan. She has been a freelance harpist for over ten years. She is currently the principal harpist for the symphonies of Flint, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Bay City, and Windsor. Her harp performances have taken her to cities including Portland, OR , Boston, MA, Aspen, CO, Tokyo, Japan, and she has been heard nationally on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's recording of her performance of Mozart's Concerto for flute and harp.

Emily Perryman, Flutist, received her master's degree in flute from the University of Michigan, and she has enjoyed an active free-lance career in the Ann Arbor area, performing with the Ann Arbor Symphony, Flint Symphony, and Brave New Works contemporary ensemble. Emily serves on the faculty of the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts and maintains a private studio of flute students. -- www.a2so.com
