In a bid to show frustration with Legislature's lack of progress in reaching an agreement on the budget, the Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger said today that he will sign no more bills of any kind until the Legislature completes work on a state budget.

While addressing a press conference today, Schwarzenegger said "Nothing in this building is more important that a responsible budget." "There is no excuse for the Legislature's failure to reach a compromise and to send me a budget," Schwarzenegger expressed his disappointment.

The law requires the Legislature to reach an agreement by July 1.It is more than a month into the fiscal year now. "Until the Legislature passes a budget that I can sign, I will not sign any bills that reach my desk,” said Schwarzenegger.

Schwarzenegger was particularly upset by Democratic state Senate leader Don Perata’s suggestion the budget impasse could drag on past the Democratic National Convention at the end of the month."Does that mean this is going to go on for another 14 days?" Schwarzenegger asked.

The Governor said that he will not deal with any bills brought to his desk.

"I will veto anything on my desk, nothing will be signed and nothing dealt with" until there's a state budget, the governor warned.
