State Theatre has announced the addition of John Hiatt & the Ageless Beauties with Special Guest John Hammond on Saturday, August 9 at 8pm to the 2008 line-up.
Classic John Hiatt tunes include "Have a Little Faith in Me," "Tennessee Plates," "Lipstick Sunset," "Drive South," and more. Hiatt released his 19th album, Same Old Man, in May 2008.
One of America's most respected and influential singer-songwriters, John Hiatt's songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt ("Thing Called Love"), Buddy Guy, Emmylou Harris, Iggy Pop, Rosanne Cash (the #1 country hit "The Way We Make A Broken Heart"), the Jeff Healey Band ("Angel Eyes"), Willie Nelson, and even the cartoon bear band of Disney's 2002 film The Country Bears.
With a career that spans in excess of three decades, John Hammond is one of handful of White blues musicians who was on the scene at the beginning of the first blues renaissance of the mid-'60s. He does justice to classic blues by combining powerful guitar and harmonica playing with expressive vocals and a dignified stage presence. -- www.statetheatrenj.org
