Opera Software announced that Micromax, India's leading handset provider, has selected the Opera Mini browser to deliver a world class Web experience to its mobile phone customers. The world's most popular mobile Web browser, Opera Mini, will come pre-installed on the new Blink X511 handset by Micromax. Opera Mini is already available in the market on Micromax X4i handset.

The fast and feature-packed Opera Mini browser complements Blink X511, a trendy touch screen handset with a sleek user interface packed with features such as motion sensor, TV out, 3 megapixel auto focus camera, EDGE, innovative remote control system and more.

"With the mobile phone user base increasing by the day in India, more and more users are surfing the Web from their mobile phones," said Rahul Sharma, COO, Micromax. "Users today demand a browsing experience which is fast, intuitive and secure. By offering Opera Mini as a pre-installed browser on the Blink X511, we have created a world class handset with the best features available, all at an affordable price."

"With Opera Mini, Micromax customers will immediately enjoy the convenience of having Web access from any location, said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "We are confident that Micromax customers will be impressed with the breadth and capabilities of Opera's Web browsing solutions. Our goal is to provide users with the best Internet experience on any device and we look forward to growing this momentum further in India."

Opera Mini loads Web pages at speeds comparable to a desktop experience. Because Opera Mini compresses data by over 90% before sending it to the handset, content is delivered faster and costs less to receive. Since its launch in 2006, Opera Mini has become the world's most popular mobile browser. According to Opera's latest "State of the Mobile Web" report, 14.5 million people actively used Opera Mini in June 2008, viewing 3.2 billion pages per month.-Opera Software
