A TV ad championed by the Democratic National Committee this week portrayed McCain as being in the pocket of the oil industry. In fact, the Democratic Party launched a website in which they put Exxon Mobil as McCains running mate.
The report said that McCain received the biggest money from the oil industry but Obama got the biggest amount from the “big boys.”
The report which is no doubt unwelcome news for the Democratic Party shows that Obama has received more from the pockets of employees at several of the biggest and most recognizable Oil companies.
The surprising bit is that, the biggest recipient of contributions from Exxon executives and employees during this campaign is not McCain. It's actually Barack Obama.
According to the report, Exxon employees have given Obama a generous $42,100 compared to McCain’s $35,166.The trend is rather similar with Chevron and BP.
Chevron employees parted with $35,157 for Obama and gave a paltry $28,500 towards McCain’s bid for the U.S Presidency. BP employees donated $16,046 and $11,500 towards Obama’s and McCain’s campaigns respectively.
However, the report shows that McCain got more money from the other top companies in the Oil Industry like Koch Industries, Valero, Marathon Oil, Occidental Petroleum and ConocoPhillips.
Reports suggest that McCain had got three times more than what Obama has got from the Oil Industry. $1.3 million for McCain compared to Obama’s $394,000.
