Soho Theatre Presents Louis CK: Chewed Up

US stand-up legend Louis CK is one of the most respected comedic voices of his generation. An Emmy Award-winning writer as well as an acclaimed director, producer and actor, Louis makes his UK debut fresh from filming a starring role in Ricky Gervais's new movie.

"The funniest stand-up working in America" Ricky Gervais

"The greatest comic mind of the last quarter century" Chris Rock

Performances will take place from 19 to 23 August at 9.30pm.

With a fearless honesty that borders on brutal, Louis's exploration of life destroys politically correct images of marriage, children, sex and race with thoughts that most people have but would rarely admit.

His hit series Lucky Louie was HBO's first ever traditional sitcom and he is a regular writer and guest on The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brian. He has worked extensively with Chris Rock - winning an Emmy Award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series, and co-writing Rock's movies Down to Earth (2001) and I Think I Love My Wife (2007).

Louis has recently completed filming Ricky Gervais's film This Side of Truth, in which he plays Gervais's smelly and sad best friend, starring alongside Jennifer Garner and Rob Lowe. As a filmmaker, he has directed and written several short films and feature-length movies and is best known for his cult classic Blaxploitation spoof Pootie Tang, which he wrote and directed. -- www.sohotheatre.com
