Lee Rossi To Perform At Palm Springs Art Museum

On Thursday, January 18, 2007 the Palm Springs Art Museum's LIVE OUT LOUD Poetry Series will feature a performance by Los Angeles poet Lee Rossi. The reading will take place at 6 p.m. in ZONE 101 at the Art Museum and coffee will be provided by Palm Springs Koffi. Admission is free.

Lee Rossi was born in St. Louis, Missouri and studied five years for the Roman Catholic priesthood before leaving the seminary. He has published two ESL (English as a Second Language) textbooks from Prentice-Hall, as well as a critical study of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. He is the author of two books of poetry, Ghost Diary (2002) and Beyond Rescue (1992), and has appeared in various anthologies, including Chances of a Ghost (Helicon Nine Editions, 2005) and Mischief, Caprice, & Other Strategies, (Red Hen Press, 2002).

He is a winner of the Sense of Site poetry contest sponsored by the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department. From 1986 to 1992, he edited Tsunami, a journal of contemporary poetry focused on Los Angeles. He has led the Beyond Baroque Wednesday-night Poetry Workshop, the longest-running free workshop in Los Angeles, and conducts a private workshop in his home.

The LIVE OUT LOUD Poetry Series features live readings by renowned poets through May 2007 on the third Thursday of each month in ZONE 101 at the Art Museum. The readings begin at 6 p.m. and the public is invited to attend for FREE. Upcoming poets in the series include Florence Weinberger, and Anne Waldman.
