Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Assistant Conductor Patrick Reynolds will conduct a program that includes such diverse selections as Olympic Fanfare (Williams), Embraceable You, But not for Me, A Medley from Porgy and Bess, They Can't Take That Away From Me (Gershwin), An American in Paris (Gershwin)The Free Lance March (Sousa), I Bought Me A Cat (Copland), Zion's Walls (Copland), Hymn to the Fallen (Williams), Battle Hymn of the Republic, 1812 Overture (Tchaikovsky), and Stars and Stripes Forever (Sousa).
Troy Mayor Mike Beamish will be guest conductor of the His Honor March by Fillmore. Soprano Linda Snyder of the University of Dayton will sing Gershwin, and Melody Williams, rector of Trinity Church on Troy, will lead the program off with The National Anthem. Featured guests include the Verdin Bells of Cincinnati and – to provide explosive accompaniment to the War of 1812 Overture – Bob Gilmore from Old Fort, Ohio.
A benefit of the event is an offer of free parking and reserved seating for the handicapped and their families and friends. Girl Scouts will provide wheelchair assistance to the handicapped as well. -- www.daytonphilharmonic.com
