"It is well known that Target is an extraordinary partner to the arts," said Minnesota Orchestra President and CEO Michael Henson, "and they have once again demonstrated their outstanding support. Almost immediately after our Orchestra announced it would not be able to perform at Lake Harriet this fall, we received a call from Target, asking how they could help. Their commitment to the Minnesota Orchestra and to sharing the arts with as broad a community as possible through free performances is simply remarkable."
The Minnesota Orchestra has offered an annual performance at the Lake Harriet Band Shell since 2003, with concerts drawing audiences of approximately 5,000 individuals.
"Target has a long-standing partnership with the Minnesota Orchestra as part of our commitment to making the arts affordable and accessible to all," said Laysha Ward, president, community relations, Target. "We're proud that our support could help make the free Lake Harriet concert possible because it's a wonderful tradition that Twin Cities families enjoy together year after year."
Tom Nordyke, president of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) commented, "We are very pleased that the Minnesota Orchestra can continue its tradition of performing at Lake Harriet. We know that thousands of people look forward to this annual concert. I want to thank Target for its generosity and commitment to Music in the Parks. This is a great way to end MPRB's 2008 concert season." -- www.minnesotaorchestra.org
